Article No. 1 Five Tips to Sell Your Home Quickly
If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’ve been dabbling with the idea of selling your home. Congratulations! This is such an exciting time. Selling a home may feel overwhelming initially, but I have some tried and true tricks up my sleeve to have an offer on your home in no time.
My first tip is to stage your home. I know what you’re thinking “Do I need to hire a stager?” - No, you do not! You can 100% do this yourself, I believe in you. If you’re not sure how to do this, I’d be happy to show you how. It’s much easier than you think! Something to keep in mind is showcasing the functionality of a space. A few of the ways you can stage your home is setting your table with a fun centerpiece and set the table with some fun cloth napkins. This will help your buyers envision themselves gathered around the table with family and loved ones. Outside the dining room, display some coffee table books in the living room and add some lamps for extra light in any spaces that are not well lit. Don’t forget about some throw blankets in the cozy spaces of your home as well - couch, master bedroom, guest bedroom…etc.
My second tip would be to tidy up your space. In this case, you may want to hire a professional cleaning service to perform a deep clean of your home - unless you’re like Monica Geller and it’s only clean when you clean it :) This can eliminate any pet odor and/or stains as well as making all your appliances look like they are brand new. It’s a small investment that really goes a longgg way. Potential buyers want to see that the home was kept clean and taken care of. Don’t feel like you need to keep it absolutely perfect as you are living in your space when you have showings, but try to keep it as tidy as possible. Another helpful hint would be to declutter as well. You can even start packing a few items in boxes to get a head-start on packing.
My third tip would be to remove any personal items out of your space & bring simplicity into your space. Personal items could include family gallery walls, family portraits, important documents…etc. It is beneficial to eliminate personal items like these for privacy reasons and it allows potential buyers to imagine their family in the space. When you remove personal items, if you’d like to replace the items, feel free to bring in simple/neutral elements to create a calming presence in your space.
My fourth tip would be to patch up any holes or paint over any marks on the wall. This little tip makes a huge difference. It can be a tedious task, but it shows potential buyers that you took the time to make their move in transition that much easier and it takes one more thing off of their to-do list. Patching and painting is a subtle way to show you care for your buyers in the transaction.
My fifth and final tip would be to hire an experienced real estate agent. This is where my experience comes in.
