Travel & Design
Today on the journal we will be taking a closer look at the Cara Hotel! Cara is located at the base of Griffith Park Observatory and used to be an old, 1950s-era motel & with coin slotted laundry machines. This recently renovated hotel is the epitome of “California cool” and boasts the laidback lifestyle we all know and love. You may have seen Cara featured in publications like Vogue and Architectural Digest. Cara is best known for its jaw dropping courtyard decorated with string lights, a reflection pool, olive & palm trees, and an outdoor restaurant fit for dreamy al fresco dining. Once you enter through Cara’s glass doors you are able to leave the craze of the city behind to enjoy a calming oasis.
The courtyard is only the beginning of this California dream. Each bedroom at Cara features “herringbone floors, crisp Frette linens, and tufted cream chairs”. This minimalistic design feels both warm & welcoming all while bringing the outdoors in.
Some of my favorite design elements that I am LOVING from this space is the contrast of light and dark . Cara’s designer did an amazing job featuring different wood tones throughout the space which makes everything pop even more against the white walls. The natural light is another one of my favorite parts of this hotel. It speaks to Cara’s efforts of bringing the outside in & allowing the natural elements to speak for themselves. And finally (saving the best for last) the accent of herringbone floors. This is my favorite trend I’ve seen circling about. If you’re trying to elongate a space in your home or business, herringbone floors are the way to go - not to mention they’re a fun pop of pattern.
If you’re looking for the perfect getaway, or get a fresh perspective on life…it’s here - no doubt.
